So at Denver Comic Con Felipe Echevarria came up to the table (which is really cool because that dude's work is phenominal! It's always shocking that he even wants to talk to me LOL) early on Friday and we got to chat for a few before the show got into the swing of things. I only ever get to chat with him at the cons, and it was fun, but he did say something that really hit home with me. He said to me "I've really noticed that you haven't been working in color all that much lately.", and I felt it was a fair assessment of the last year.

I really enjoy painting, but I have been concentrating more on my b & W comic work as of late. I really have missed painting so I promised myself after we had talked that I would do more painting!

With this one I just wanted to knock the dust off the brushes, and actually test out a new large #12 Richeson brush I picked up after DCC. It's nice because I lets me do large washes, so I wanted to get some practice with it.

As for the subject, I painted up a little tribute art for my favorite Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal. I remember that the only thing I did when I when I turned 18 was go to the local magazine shop and buy a Playboy. It was really the only thing you get to do that you couldn't before hand other than vote or buy cigarettes (wasn't an election year, and I don't smoke) so that is what I did with my new found power. But yeah it was the 1998 Playmate of the Year edition and the PMOY was Karen McDougal. I still think she is the hottest Playmate to this day! So I painted her up in one of my ridiculous get ups. :w00t!:
